WHSR™ is invited to take a tour of the port of Charleston, South Carolina


Join us on October 13 and 14, 2022 with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Charlotte and Charleston for a tour of the Port of Charleston, South Carolina with HSI DSAC Michael Prado and team.

Attendees will receive a briefing on HSI its role leading transnational investigations that are emanate from a seaport environment or are initiated based on a nexus to the seaport.  Types of investigations include drug trafficking, weapons trafficking, counter-proliferation and unlawful export, wildlife trafficking, financial investigation, human smuggling and human trafficking.   

 

Attendees will learn about HSI’s Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST) program, which operates at the Port of Charleston and includes multiple federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.   

 

The tour will include interaction with HSI’s DHS partners, including CBP and U.S. Coast Guard, and will also include interaction with the Port Authority of South Carolina for up close observation of port operations, cargo and a variety of hands-on and unique experiences for attendees. 

 

The Port of Charleston is ranked as the 6th in the nation in monetary value of goods handled, has a $63B economic impact, directly serves over 100 foreign ports and is continuing with an ongoing major expansion that will make the Port of Charleston the deepest harbor on the East Coast.
