CGIA3

Coast Guard Industry Academy Cohort 3

The Coast Guard Industry Academy Cohort 3 is well under way!  CGIA is a comprehensive program designed to strengthen industry knowledge of and collaboration with the Coast Guard mission. The program consists of four component sessions over a one-year period.  For CGIA3, the opening session in Puerto Rico had the cohort visiting and learning from both Sector San Juan and Air Station Borinquen.  Our traditional trip to Kodiak, Alaska – the largest USCG base and to Sector Seattle was completed in July.  Throughout both visits, the cohort learned about the specific mission set at each and took part in various training missions.

U.S. Coast Guard officers and senior leadership throughout participated in several discussions, focusing on major strategic initiatives including: Securing Maritime Borders, Facilitating Commerce, Maritime Security and Counterterrorism, Inland Waterways, Sovereignty and Presence in Polar Regions, and Acquisitions as well as programs for all USCG personnel and local challenges.

The program’s objective is to select senior industry executives who maintain a broad organizational authority and responsibility that can share comprehensive industry knowledge and are able to disseminate Coast Guard information back across their organization. This program is organized such that Coast Guard knowledge and understanding is enhanced with each successive quarterly session.
