Coast Guard Industry Academy 2
“The Coast Guard Industry Academy is absolutely mind-blowing! Unlimited access and VIP treatment was provided to our group at every turn, immersing us into almost every USCG operational and training environment, including many examples of their surface and aviation fleet. There is nothing else out there that comes close to the ‘insider’s look’ that WHSR has created with the USCG leadership. As an industry partner on the shore infrastructure side, I came away with a much deeper appreciation of the concurrent missions and day-to-day passion of dedicated Coast Guard personnel. This program reveals to each participant precisely WHY we have the world’s gold standard Coast Guard.”

After working closely with the USCG to adapt to challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we kicked off the second class of the Coast Guard Industry Academy on a virtual basis on October 29th, 2020. We started with 5 weekly video conferences with leadership at Coast Guard Headquarters in D.C. Following the Headquarters piece we shifted our focus to the Coast Guard Yard, Sector Maryland National Capital Region, and Station Curtis Bay. As travel becomes safe again we will transition back to in-person trips.
The Coast Guard Industry Academy is a comprehensive program designed to strengthen industry knowledge of and collaboration with the Coast Guard mission. The program consists of four component sessions over a one-year period, which are: the opening session at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and three other sessions at selected Coast Guard facilities along the east and west coasts, and Alaska.
U.S. Coast Guard officers and senior leadership at the first meeting participated in several discussions, focusing on major strategic initiatives including: Securing Maritime Borders, Facilitating Commerce, Maritime Security and Counterterrorism, Inland Waterways, Sovereignty and Presence in Polar Regions, and Acquisitions.
The program’s objective is to select senior industry executives who maintain a broad organizational authority and responsibility that can share comprehensive industry knowledge and are able to disseminate Coast Guard information back across their organization. This program is organized such that Coast Guard knowledge and understanding is enhanced with each successive quarterly session. The schedule of the program is below:
